2024-2025 Academic Year Autumn Semester Common Compulsory Courses (AIT-TUR-YDL) Exemption Exams

Within the scope of Karabuk University Common Compulsory Courses Exemption Exams Directive, the Exemption Exams of all Common Compulsory Courses (AIT181 / HST181-Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolutions I, AIT182 / HST181-Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolutions II, TUR181 / TRK181-Turkish Language I / Turkish Language I, TUR182 / TRK181-Turkish Language II / Turkish Language II, YDL183 / FOL183-Foreign Language I / Foreign Language I, YDL184 / FOL184-Foreign Language II / Foreign Language II) in the Fall Semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year will be held face-to-face with supervision on September 21, 2024.
 
Applications for exemption exams for common compulsory courses must be made through https://muafiyet.karabuk.edu.tr/ by September 11, 2024, and all students must pay attention to the following points regarding exemption exams.
 
1) Students who registered for the first time in the relevant academic year and students who continue their education and who have never taken these courses before and/or failed these courses for any reason can take the exemption exams for common compulsory courses.
2) Students studying in the English preparatory class and TÖMER in the relevant academic year cannot take the exemption exams of that academic year.
3) Students who have taken the relevant courses in previous years and passed but want to increase their grades cannot take the exemption exams. Even if they have taken the exemption exams for the course or courses they have passed, the exam results of the relevant students are considered invalid.
4) Students who registered for the preparatory class in the relevant academic year and passed the exemption exam held by the Directorate of the School of Foreign Languages ​​are also exempt from Foreign Language courses, so they can only take the exemption exams of Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History and Turkish Language courses.
5) Students who registered for the preparatory class in the relevant academic year and continued the preparatory class and successfully completed the English preparatory education at the B2 level are also exempt from Foreign Language courses, so they can only take the exemption exams of Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History and Turkish Language courses at the beginning of the next academic year.
6) Students who studied at TÖMER in the relevant academic year and were successful can take the exemption exams at the beginning of the next academic year.
7) Students who receive a score below 60 in the exemption exam are considered unsuccessful and must take the courses related to these students. Students who fail the exemption exam can retake the exemption exams held the following year. The equivalent of the numerical grade in the exam is determined according to the grade ranges and degrees in the absolute evaluation system specified in the Karabük University Measurement and Evaluation Principles Directive. However, no grades will be entered into the system for students who took the exam and did not receive a sufficient score.
 
8) Students can take courses from higher years up to the total ECTS of the courses they were exempted from as a result of the exam, in accordance with Article 21 of the Karabük University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Exam Regulation.
 
9) No make-up exams will be held for students who apply for exemption exams but do not take the exam(s) for any reason.
 
10) The procedures regarding the announcement of exam results and objections to the results are carried out in accordance with Article 25 of the Karabük University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Exam Regulation and the Karabük University Exam Center Coordination Directive.
11) Students who attempt to cheat in exams, who cheat, who assist cheaters, who have someone else take the exam instead of them, who take the exam instead of someone else, or who disrupt the general order during the exam, or who have communication devices in the exam hall are recorded and given a grade of 0 (zero) for that exam. In addition, the provisions of Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 11/4/1981 regarding students' disciplinary matters are applied to these students.
 
NOTE: It is not mandatory to take exemption exams.
