About
Our faculty, aware of the significant role and contribution of youth, particularly well-educated university students, in the economic, social, and cultural development and progress of our country, and with a faculty member aware of this awareness, aims to educate engineers who will shape the future.
Karabük Faculty of Engineering, established on December 18, 2005, under Council of Ministers Decree No. 2005/9744, affiliated with Zonguldak Karaelmas University, was incorporated into Karabük University, established by Law No. 5662 dated May 29, 2007, and renamed Karabük University Faculty of Engineering. On July 19, 2007, the faculty opened the following departments: Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Beginning in the 2008-09 academic year, the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering each admitted 40 students. Since the 2009-2010 academic year, the departments of Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Mechatronic Engineering have been accepting students for both formal and evening programs. Currently, our faculty is accepting students in the following departments: Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Automotive Engineering and Rail Systems Engineering Programs), Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, our faculty has also incorporated the departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. By Presidential Decree No. 10073 dated July 13, 2025, our faculty continues its education as the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
A foreign language preparatory class is mandatory for the undergraduate program, and students begin their undergraduate studies after attending a one-year English preparatory program. Students with sufficient English proficiency can skip the mandatory preparatory program and continue their undergraduate studies if they pass the exemption exam. Our faculty is committed to developing highly qualified individuals for the future of our country, leveraging our scientific, technological, and artistic heritage in the light of universal values, and to delivering our research, education, and service output for the benefit of society. Our faculty is comprised of faculty members who are aware of and understand the crucial role and contribution of youth, particularly well-educated university students, in a country's economic, social, and cultural development and progress.
