Environmental engineering is a profession that applies the principles of various disciplines of basic sciences to eliminate the adverse effects of pollution, improve the quality of the environment for human health and welfare, and assess environmental risks.

Karabük University Department of Environmental Engineering has established in 2011 to educate new environmental engineers in order to respond to the growing environmental concerns. In the last decade, in parallel with the progresses in the EU membership process, the demand for Environmental Engineers has increased considerably, and our department has become one of the most preferred among engineering departments.

To ensure that students attending our program gain necessary expertise for conducting their profession, our undergraduate curriculum includes topics such as; water, air and soil pollution control; utilization, improvement and management of natural resources; treatment of domestic and industrial wastewaters; practical applications to use the theoretical knowledge for all these topics mentioned above.

The department has admitted its first students in the 2011-2012 academic year and started education with 62 students and produced its first graduates in 2016.

Our academic staff is composed of; 2 Full Professors, 5 Assistant Professors and 6 Adjunct Professor.

Currently, the department offers degrees in two programmes: a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Programme, consisting of eight semesters each with 30 ECTS workload; and a Master of Science (MSc) Programme.
