Prof.Dr. İdris KABALCI presented his study titled as "Structural and spectroscopic characterization: Er3+ doped chalgogen glasses, optical fiber and thin films" on 29th March 2019 Friday at 14:30 in Istanbul Technical University Physics Engineering Department.
Speech Summary:
In this study, we present the well-known Er3+ doped kalcogen based glass materials for infrared transparency in various applications in photonics and optoelectronics. Er3+ doped chalgogen glasses were prepared using a vertical oven with argon gas atmosphere. For structural and spectroscopic measurements, the production of thin films of about 460 nm thickness was performed using the radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering technique. Er3+ deposited thin films were applied at different temperatures of 450, 500, 550 and 600 °C in the tube furnace and heat annealing (RTA) at 2 °C/min and 10 °C/min heating rates. As a result, the absorption spectra, emission and structural properties of Er3+ ion doped GLS thin films were determined to be affected by different heat treatments.
