Abstract:

Bioactive scaffolds with interconnected porous structures are essential for guiding cell growth and new bone formation. In this work, porous calcium silicate scaffolds will be fabricated as potential material for load-bearing orthopaedic applications. Calcium silicate (CS) material will be synthesized by using wet precipitation method followed by the fabrication of three-dimensional (3D) using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as binder. The porous scaffold materials will be characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform Infra-red (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDAX) techniques. further will investigated the physiochemical properties and degradability of porous CS scaffolds. Mechanical properties of 3D scaffolds will be conducted in the term of compressive strength. Moreover, a series of in vitro cell experiments including the attachment, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of Human dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) will be conducted to testify their biological performances.
